Alweer een weekje verder op Ko Tao..
Dinsdag en woensdag 4 en 5 december
Om Carolien haar verjaardag te vieren heeft Martijn voor 2 dagen een superdeluxe room geboekt bij het koh tao resort (www.kotaoresort.com) en een jamahkiri treatment voor 2 bij het jamahkiri resort (www.jamahkiri.com). Afgelopen dinsdag hebben we ingecheckt en hebben we in de baai even wat gesnorkeld. In deze baai viel er erg weinig vis te ontdekken dus we waren er maar snel mee gestopt. Ons buikje begon toch al wat te rammelen… Even de snorkelspulletjes ingeleverd en hop naar het restaurant van het resort. De ober die ons bediende vertelde dat hij maar liefst 15 uur op een dag werkte en dat voor 7 dagen in de week. Tsja…dat zet je wel even aan het denken.. Woensdagavond zijn we naar het restaurant new heaven gegaan. Chris van easy divers had ons getipt om hier te eten omdat ze zeer goede zeegerechten serveerden. Nou en of,we hebben het geweten! We hebben koningsmakreel, baracuda en red snapper gegeten. Waarbij de laatste echt subliem was. Het smolt lekker in je mond, hmmmm..zalig!
Donderdag zijn we naar easy divers gegaan om ons in te schrijven voor een advanced course. Na wat te hebben ge-internet hebben we een scootertje gehuurd bij de plaatselijke scooterboer. Bij new heaven die avond nog wat gegeten en daarna vroeg naar bed gegaan. Een rustig dagje dus. Was wel even lekker naar al dat gechill. Ook daar moet je van bijkomen :-).
Vrijdag werden we om 12.30 uur verwacht bij easy divers om vervolgens de duiken: peak performance buoyancy, navigatie en nachtduik uit te voeren. Spannend! Bij de eerste duik stond controle over je drijfvermogen centraal, waarbij we oefeningen deden zoals : door verschillende vormen zwemmen, stilstand in het water en het gooien met een raket naar een andere scuba diver. Bij de tweede duik stond het navigeren centraal, er stond een behoorlijke stroming dus dit was niet al te gemakkelijk. Een keer zijn we naar het oppervlak gegaan om ons opnieuw te orienteren. De nachtduik spreekt voor zich. Wat wel heel leuk was dat we met zn allen op de bodem onze lantaarns uitdeden om vervolgens met onze handen in het donker te zwaaien. Hierdoor lichtte de planktondeeltjes (fosfor) op. Dat was echt magisch!
Vandaag hebben we twee duiken gedaan. Op beide plekken zijn we al eens geweest: chumporn pinaccle en three rocks. De eerste duik (chumporn) was onze diepte duik van 30 meter. Eenmaal op de bodem aangekomen hebben we een aantal oefeningen gedaan waaronder tot 10 tellen. Dit omdat je op deze diepte zogenaamde nitrogin narcoses kan ontwikkelen, omdat je op 30 meter meer nitrogin tot je neemt. Het gevolg hiervan is dat je gaat hallucineren. Je vindt alles cool of je denkt bijvoorbeeld dat je je op de zwiterse alpen bevindt (verhaal van de duikleraar). Gelukkig hadden we er beiden geen last van. Onze fundive kon dus beginnen. Ook deze keer hadden we geluk en zagen we een grey reef shark letterlijk langs ons heen komen en vervolgens naast ons zwemmen. Dat koste wel wat zuurstof… We hadden erg goed zicht en hebben daarna nog heel vissen gespot: een grouper,yellow tail barracuda, batfish en nog vele anderen…
De tweede duik van vandaag was een echte fundive. Ian gaf ons nog wat informatie over de vissoorten. Hierna zijn we naar beneden afgedaald en hebben we onze langste duik tot nu gemaakt 41 minuten! We zijn nu dus advanced divers en mogen nu op de meest geliefde plekken ter wereld duiken!!

Wat geweldig om al jullie verhalen te lezen. Wij zijn ook naar Koa Sok National Park geweest, in een goed guesthouse gezeten, ben alleen de naam nu ff kwijt… Een Lake Tour is aan te raden. Je kunt blijven overnachten op het meer. Dat hebben wij helaas niet gedaan, maar we zijn er wel geweest. Dus als jullie tijd hebben is het echt de moeite waard. Je wordt wakker in een huisje met alleen maar water om je heen. En prachtig uitzicht.
